Hogsback Ranch
Welcome to Hogsback Ranch whitetail deer breeding program and trophy hunting preserve. We are located in Taylor County, Wisconsin, near the city of Gilman. Our family owned and operated ranch has been breeding quality whitetails since 2000. Hogsback Ranch's breeding and artifical insemination operation moved to it's current location in April of 2005. Our hunting preserve specializes in providing quality, trophy whitetail hunting opportunities with fully-guided, all-inclusive hunts.
At Hogsback Ranch, we take great pride in providing our customers with world class genetics. We offer does, fawns, breeder bucks and semen for sale throughout the breeding season.
The name Hogsback Ranch comes from a land feature on the ranch that has been called the Hogsback ever since we can remember. A "hogsback" is a ridge of land having steep slopes at the sides and a sharp crest. Yes, it is a real word!
Hogsback Ranch is currently booking hunts for the September 1 through January 15 season. All packages include a three day hunt, three night lodging and meals. Limited space, contact Hogsback Ranch today!
Breeding & Genetics
The Hogsback Ranch, located near Gilman, Wisconsin, consists of 11 breeding pens on 20 acres of land including a handling corral and facility. We designed this operation and facility to improve the handling capabilities of whitetails. This in turn promotes higher quality of genetics with less stress and better health of the animals with annual vaccinations.
At Hogsback Ranch, we have been refining our genetics using artificial insemination since 2000. The possibilities when utilizing artificial breeding are endless. We take great pride in providing our customers with world class genetics. We offer does, fawns, breeder bucks and semen for sale throughout the breeding season.
Deer Ingineering
The Hogsback Ranch has been breeding quality whitetails since 2000. We started out with a few does and now through breeding/purchasing the best genetics available we have over 100 whitetails.
Our breeding does all have a minimum one generation of 200" genetics behind them. With most of them being two to ten generations of 200" stock. We have consistently upgraded our doe genetics to stack as many generations of 200" genetics behind them as possible and now we are beginning to stack 300" genetics on top of that.
At Hogsback Ranch, we have consistently improved our conception rates year after year and are now getting rates of 75% or better. We have added genetics from Tonto 254 2/8", Lakota , Pretty Boy Flloyd, Dreamcatcher 302", Max Thrust 193" at 2 years, Out of Bounds, P.C. Brutus 192", Peach 226 1/2", Big Guy 264", Undertaker 215" at 3 years, MO Thunder, Matrix, G.B. Magic and more of the world's top breeder bucks.
We are proud to introduce Max Thrust. In 2007, at the age of one, he reached an incredible 171" and in 2008 at two years, 193" and 20 points. Max Thrust is co-owned with Roger & Laurie Pietrowski of Independence Ranch. Watch for great things from this buck!
